Paul has come from a clinical background of being a Consultant in General and Renal Medicine at the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, UK, with education leadership roles, as Postgraduate Clinical Tutor and then Head of the Undergraduate Academy. He is an Honorary Professor in the University of Birmingham and continues contributing to medical education. He has chaired or been a member of regional and national strategic groups and a member of Royal College of Physicians committees, currently the Patient Safety Committee.
Paul has been a PRIME tutor since 2017 and has been part of teams teaching Whole Person Care, Communication Skills and Leadership in the Seychelles, Uganda and Burundi. Development of online teaching for doctors and medical students in Africa has facilitated delivery of more accessible, in-depth courses.
Having been part of the PRIME Tutor Support Group, from 2024 he has taken over as chair of this group and through this is on the Executive Committee.
