PRIME

Partnerships in International Medical Education

Egypt

PRIME teams have been involved in primary care development, medical school and student training, faculty development, mental health and surgical training.

PRIME has worked at a major Christian hospital that has now become a training centre for doctors from all over Egypt and nearby countries and we continue to help provide specialist trainers to support their training programmes. PRIME tutors have taught at universities, at major conferences in Cairo, have run a major psychiatry conference and taught endoscopy to local specialists, and we are delighted to have a number of Egyptian colleagues registered as PRIME tutors.

PRIME tutors have attended and provided several teaching sessions at the DWAM/HOME conference in Egypt, joined a discussion that led to a unified hospital group, and took part in a cardiology conference and a strategic planning conference in Menouf. Work continues discussing the question of quality maintenance and possible PRIME involvement in the group.

We are contributing to an MSc course in Family Medicine in association with the University of Edinburgh.
